Arikka's surgery

On April 15th Arikka had surgery on her tummy down at Primary Children's Medical Center in Riverton, Ut. She had a herniated belly button and a Gastric hernia a little above her belly button.
It was one crazy day! We had to be at the Hospital at 7:00 am. My awesome sister Nanci took McKayla for us, so we dropped her off at about 6:15, then headed over to the Hospital. She got all checked in and we went to her little room.

Before they took her back to the surgery room they gave her a little something to help her relax. She was SO not happy about that! It made her all loopy and funny. She keep trying to get up and walk around, but she really couldn't. They let us take her for a walk in the wagon.

We totally loved Primary Children's!! They let her take her 2 favorite stuffed animals back to the surgery room, that way they she would be even more comfortable. This is a picture of her with Tigger and Pancake, her 2 fav's!

After the surgery, they had me go to the first recovery room to be with her while she woke up. They told us it could take anywhere from 10-30 minutes before she would be awake enough to go to the second recovery room. But Arikka did SO amazing that they had her out of the recovery room in about 5 minutes! Soon we had all us together again, in the second recovery room!!

Arikka did SO good that they let us go home after being in the second recovery room only 30 minutes!! After getting her medications, we went to go get McKayla from Aunt Nanci's house. Arikka recovered SO quickly!! The day after her surgery she was up playing with toys and picking on McKayla.


Here are some pictures of her stomach 2 days after the surgery. We got to take the bandages off 48 hours after she came home, and 10 days after the surgery the sterile strips came off.





I need to get some pictures of her tummy now that the sterile strips have come off. The scar under her belly button is hidden really well in her belly button, and you can only see it if you are looking for it.. The other scar is right out in the open, but in time it will fade.. We are so blessed to have Arikka come through this SO well!! She is our little trooper!!!
